WHAT:

SUSSEX FUN DAYS is an activity scheme run during the summer holidays for children with special needs, aged 5-14years from the Dorking, Horsham, Crawley and surrounding  areas. 

 We hire a school in the Horsham area and set up activity rooms. Our aim is to make everyday children's activities easily accessible, such as painting and football. We also have entertainers in such as magicians, discos, bouncy castle, petting animals, police cars as well as offering swimming  & farm trips.

 We are staffed by volunteers from local schools (14-19yrs old) as Team & Activity Leaders, (12-16yrs olds) who offer one to one support, each giving up a part of their own summer holidays to help our children have a fantastic summer.

Our children have a range of mental and physical disabilities, this scheme gives the parents a chance to spend time with other siblings or simply to recuperate during the long summer holidays. The children have a great time and make new friends, our volunteers also gain many skills helping these children.

 2009 was the first year for Sussex Fun Days and was a great success, we need to ensure that this can continue. 

It needs approximately £8000 to run each year. 

We welcome siblings on the first Friday and second Thursday to join in the fun.

Summer Holidays, 10am-4pm

WHERE:

Shelly Primary, Broadbridge Heath, Horsham, West Sussex.

COST:

£75 per week per child. (£130 for 2)(If you have difficulty paying this please contact your social worker). Siblings £15 per day (first Friday and second Thursday).

WHO:

Any child aged 5-15 years, who is registered with the Child Disability Team in Horsham (CDT),   or attends Manor Green School, Ingfield Manor or QEII.

VOLUNTEERS & STAFF:

We are always keen to hear from anyone who is interested in becoming leaders (over 18’s) or volunteers (12+ years) who think they have something to offer our wonderful young children.
